Honoring............ Ralph And Cindy Baumgartner
The Polish Arts Club of Buffalo has announced that Ralph and Cindy Baumgartner will be the honorees at its annual Biesiada on Thur., June 13 at 6 p.m. at Salvatore's Italian Gardens Restaurant, 6461 Transit Rd., Depew. The Baumgartners have been members of the PACB since the early 1990s. Since that time, they have served on the board of directors, held officer positions and were appointed to many committees.
They have presented programs on numerous topics including Gdansk, Malbork, The Wieliczka Salt Mines, Biskupin, Mazowsze, and the Indian Chief Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota. They have also worked with other Polish organizations to present programs to the Polish-American community in Western New York.
The Baumgartners are both retired educators – Cindy taught for the Iroquois School District for 33 years and Ralph taught for the Niagara-Wheatfield District for 35 years. Their interest in Polish culture was sparked in the early 1980s when they danced with the Krakowiacy Dancers.
They performed not only in Western New York but also in other states and in Poland. They shared their love of Poland by teaching English in camps organized through Bridges for Education in both Warsaw and Lebrok. Over the years they have hosted a few of their former
