PACB Celebrates Winter in Ski Country

     To kick off its 70thanniversary year, the Polish Arts Club of Buffalo will celebrate the wintry weather with a program highlighting the culture of the ski-country town of Zakopane.

     The program will begin at 7 pm Wed., Jan. 21and it will be held at the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Rd., Snyder.

The 2014 Wigilia sponsored by the Polish Arts Club of Buffalo is upon us!

Annual General Meeting

The annual general meeting of the club will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, December 10 in our usual meeting place, the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, Amherst.

     This is the most important general membership meeting of the year.  All board members will give a report of their activities for the past year and all committee chairs will introduce the members of their committees.  The treasurer will also give his report.  I will talk about our accomplishments of the last year as well as current problems.

The Passenger - Movie

The Passenger:  A Film about a World War II Concentration Camp; Presenter:  PACB Member Tomasz Wdowik


In order to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the start of World War II in Poland, Tomasz will show an hour-long film about life in the concentration camp in Auschwitz.

Brief Program and Film Screening of the 'Parade of Victors"

     "We have teamed up with the Polish Legacy Project-WWII to mark the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, during our meeting on September 17. That same date in 1939, is when the Soviets invaded Poland following Germany's earlier invasion. A presentation to begin at 7:00 p.m., will include the screening of a film entitled Parade of Victors (Defilada Szwycięzców).


Biesiada  - Honoree Adriennne Tworek - Gryta

Adrienne Tworek-Gryta will be honored by the Polish Arts Club of Buffalo at its annual Biesiada June 12. 

     Tworek-Gryta is a lyric-coluratura soprano, whose voice has been described as having a “clean, bell-like tone, flexible and expressive” and has been in demand as a soloist throughout Western New York since the late '70's.  She has been an Adjunct Professor in Voice at Villa Maria College since 1982 and has also taught at Villa Maria Institute and Daemen College.  She has maintained an active voice studio as well.

After dinner will be the presentation of our Scholarship awards to:
KyLe Baran, a theater and performance major at Niagara University & Mary Jane Masiulionis, a graduate student in theater at Buffalo State College.

Bipolar Buffalo( presentation), Annual Meeting and Election Results

Following the business portion of the Annual Meeing, Antholy Rudnick will do a presentation on his book Bipolar Buffalo.  His presentation will bring back memories, often touched ith humor about growing up and living during the glory years of Buffalo's Poonia centered on the East Side of the city.  He will also have copies of his book available for purchase and will sign them for anyone who requests a signed copy.
