Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Invasion of Poland

Presenter:  Andy Golebiowski

Brief Program and Film Screening of the 'Parade of Victors"

"We have teamed up with the Polish Legacy Project-WWII to mark the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, during our meeting on September 17. That same date in 1939, is when the Soviets invaded Poland following Germany's earlier invasion. A presentation to begin at 7:00 p.m., will include the screening of a film entitled Parade of Victors (Defilada Szwycięzców).

The 50 minute film, directed by Grzegorz Braun and Robert Kaczmarek, explores the thesis made by a former Soviet spy that it was the Soviet Union that was first and foremost responsible for beginning WWII. The film shows images of Hitler and Stalin's commanders standing side by side as their troops march together in a victory parade in the then Polish city of Brześć on September 22, 1939. Grzegorz Braun, a well-known film director in Poland, is the son of Dr. Kazimierz and Zofia Braun of Buffalo. Discussion will follow. The film contains English subtitles."
